Dubai Mall

Dubai Mall is one of the largest malls in the world with an area of 1,124,000 square meters! It occupies the vast area with 1200 retail outlets, 14,400 parking spaces and 120 restaurants. Dubai Mall was originally expected to welcome its first visitors in 2006 but due to the unfortunate construction delay twice, the mall finally opened in 2008 welcoming 30 million visitors. The peak year was 2015 with a total number of 92 million visitors.

Construction

The cost to build Dubai Mall was estimated to be $20 billion. This mega-complex involves 37 buildings conjoined to one another. These buildings used more than 13,500 tonnes of steel and 1.8 million square feet of tile work. Since Dubai Mall is a gigantic mall, there are approximately 90 elevators and 150 escalators installed in the mall. These elevators make it easy for the visitors to get from one place to another as they desire.

Dubai Aquarium

One of the main attractions in Dubai Mall is the Dubai Aquarium. This beast is the world’s largest indoor aquarium as well as it has the largest acrylic panel which weighs more than 245,000 kgs! This aquarium holds 10 million litres of water and has over 33,000 aquatic animals which also include 300 sharks. Dubai Aquarium also has a 270-degree tunnel of 48m length where the animals can swim directly over the visitors.

Ice Rink

Dubai Mall also features an Olympic sized ice rink. It has a thick 1.5-inch layer of ice bed which the skaters can easily glide on. The facility has over 1800 pairs of skates imported from Italy to ensure no guest is uncomfortable in any size. The Olympic sized ice rink also hosts Emirates Hockey League for the shoppers to take a break from shopping while they can experience and enjoy live professional hockey.

Virtual Reality Park

If you love gaming or if you are a gaming geek, VR-Park is the place to go. VR Park or Virtual Reality  Theme park is one of the largest indoor VR Parks in the world. It has a total number of 18 attractions that provide adrenaline-packed experience to its visitors. Out of the 18 attractions, the best attractions for the gamers would be: “APE-X”, “PAYDAY: The VR Heist” and “The Walking Dead VR Outbreak”. An arcade is available for people who don’t like VR, or just want to double their fun experience.

Speaking of virtual reality, if you are planning to become a pilot or just want to know how it feels flying an Airbus A380 flight, then make sure to visit the Emirates Airbus A380 flight simulator. The flight simulator has different settings for beginners and advanced visitors as well as an instructor which helps you fly the aircraft if you face any problems. Also, you can select the weather conditions and airports you wish to land on, how cool is that?

KidZania

Now that’s a lot of entertainment for adults, but what about kids? That’s where KidZania comes in. The theme park has an area of 80,000 square feet. It has a life-size city with buildings and shops. KidZania is a unique entertainment for kids, as it educates them and lets them experience a real-world environment. KidZania has around 70 different roles or jobs for kids, some of them are Chef, construction worker, pilot, dentist, artist, firefighter, the police officer and many more. Children get to dress up according to their chosen role and earn KidZania currency. This currency is known as “kidZos”, which they can spend in other places such as restaurants or shops. KidZos is a very good way to teach children how the economy works.

Candylicious

After all that shopping and fun activities, it’s finally time to feed your empty stomach. Dubai Mall has around 120 restaurants to offer, but if you just want to have a light sweet snack then Candylicious is the right place. Candylicious is the largest sweet’s shop in the world by spanning an area of 1000 square meters. Candylicious has more than 5000 types of sweets which come in different shapes, colours and sizes.

Dubai Mall is one of the best places to visit with friends and family, but if that is not enough entertainment and want to explore more, than you can watch The Dubai Fountain just outside Dubai Mall, or visit the tallest building in the world Burj Khalifa without having to take any transport as it’s just a few steps away from Dubai Mall!
